Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

NE St. Petersburg Home Gets Fast Water Cleanup From SERVPRO

The water damage in the ceiling of this NE St. Petersburg property resulted from a water line that ran through that part of the room leaking. The water from the pressurized pipe ran down to the framing and surrounded the double doors on the first floor. The homeowners quickly ascertained they needed a professional water cleanup in their home and contacted SERVPRO.

The technicians undergo extensive training in diverse types of damage that can happen to a NE St. Petersburg residential or commercial property, such as:

- Water damage to interior and exterior

- Biohazard cleanup

- Fire damage and mold remediation

SERVPRO technicians have already begun water damage mitigation efforts on the ceiling shown in the Before Photo. The damaged portion of the sheetrock has been removed until just before the ceiling fan. The doorframes and a small area of the adjacent wall are also off so the interior cavity areas can dry completely. Residual moisture can cause greater issues if it remains inside the building materials.

Water Removal Services in NE St. Petersburg

The technicians use extraction equipment even when there is no visible water. One of their most frequently used restoration methods involves a technique known as "dry passes." The tech using an extraction wand, moves it over a damp area several times until there is no further moisture getting picked up by the suction. This attention to the water cleanup portion of the restoration services assists in lessening the drying time needed.

SERVPRO's Professional Water Damage Equipment

Fortunately, the flooring was unmarred by the water damage in the home, and the techs only needed to concentrate on the cleanup and restoration of the ceiling and doorway. The use of their moisture detection equipment, including probes to confirm what their visual inspections showed, no seepage from the water damage affecting the ceiling and doorway.

The techs monitor the drying process carefully and take frequent air moisture readings to confirm that the water vapor in the ceiling and walls gets removed in a timely fashion. Adjustments get made if the drying seems to be slowing due to external factors such as high humidity. Afterward, the techs wipe down all exposed surfaces with their professional-strength anti-microbial and biocide cleaning solutions to ensure that the surfaces are sanitized and ready for the needed repairs.

As the After Photo shows, zero evidence of the previous water damage occurred within the NE St. Petersburg ceiling and double doorway. The property owner opted to go with the different wall paint color and updated crown molding around the ceiling to bring a new look to the room. The section of drywall in the ceiling that needed removal has been replaced, sanded, primed, and painted. There are no hints that a leak even happened in this area of the home.
